Book Review: Not Pretending Anymore

Not Pretending Anymore by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland

This was my first book by either of these authors, and I am hooked. I selected this book because I needed something to fill the “Roommate Romance” prompt for Falling For Romance Challenge. I was expecting the usual sweet, fluffy, light-hearted romance. What I was not expecting was to cry so much! OMG, I don’t usually cry while reading, but this one just hit me. I was reading a little during some down time at work, and suddenly I was trying to hide the tears from my coworkers before they started asking me what was wrong. Then I had to go to the infusion center to get my iron infusion (about an hour-long process, so a nice time to read), and I warned the nurse that if she saw me crying it wasn’t because I was in pain or anything, it was just this book. 🤣

So yes, the authors succeeded in getting me emotionally invested in Molly and Declan’s story, and their extremely slow-burn romance was just the thing I needed. I’ll definitely be checking out more titles by these authors.
