ARC Review: Hollywood Games

Hollywood Games by Evie Alexander
Publication Date: 04 April 2022

Hollywood Games is the second book in Evie Alexander’s Kinloch series. In this installment, a big Hollywood movie production comes to film at the castle, which leads to major stress for our swoony hero, Rory, and brings us all manner of hijinks and mischief.

I fell in love with Zoe and Rory in book one, Highland Games, and was really looking forward to the continuation of their story. But when I finished reading, I felt like I didn’t really know any more about them and their relationship than I did at the end of the first book. The story was so focused on the Hollywood plot that we never really got to see our main characters alone together in any meaningful way. I would have preferred it be about their developing relationship, with the movie stuff as a subplot, rather than the majority of the plot being taken up by the wacky crew of Americans who have invaded the castle. Speaking of the Hollywood invaders…I felt like all of the antics from the various characters were just, I don’t know, a little too much? Things got a little predictable and repetitive, and I found myself anxious to get back to Rory and Zoe.

Did I enjoy this book overall? Yes. And I will definitely be continuing with the series. I am happy to see that book three will give us a new castle couple with a new romance. I’m excited to get back to Kinloch!

Thank you to the author for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
