Book Tour Stop: Atonement Camp for Redemption

I’m so excited for my first time as a tour stop with Pride Book Tours!

Atonement Camp for Redemption is the sequel to Evan J Corbin’s sublime Atonement Camp for Unrepentant Homophobes. Pastor Rick, now out and proud after his stay at camp, is making up for lost time with a revolving door of men in one-night stands and short-term flings. As we open on this second book, Missy Bottom is out for revenge, the Vatican and the Luminaries are dealing with the aftermath of the invalidation and subsequent revalidation of the New Revelation, and Rick is selling his home in Hickory and moving back to camp to be a teacher, his new boyfriend Ryan in tow. Yes, that Ryan. The nineteen-year-old who was the subject of Rick’s sermon that got him sent to the Atonement Camp in the first place.

Corbin’s exquisite sense of humor from the first book continues in this one, but as before some of that humor is laced with truth and pain and is a light-hearted and thought-provoking way to deal with some serious topics. Pastor Rick is a flawed hero, but that just makes him more likeable and a more realistic character. He struggles with self-acceptance after the years he spent hiding his true self, and it shows in the way he handles his relationships with the men in his life.

Full of intrigue and revenge plots and the most magnificent drag queen of all time (yes, Marilyn is my favorite character), Atonement Camp for Redemption is a testament to the power of found family as well as a beautiful tribute to queer history and queer acceptance. I highly recommend both of these books and would love to see more from this author.

Thank you to Pride Book Tours and the author for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
